The Undergraduate Environmental Studies Compulsory Course (AECC-I) seeks to equip students with the necessary knowledge to fulfil the demands of ecological citizenship by building a solid foundation on the interrelationships between nature, society, and economics.

Department of Environmental Studies is the youngest department of the college and offers interdisciplinary program that looks at the environment from a diversity of disciplinary perspectives. The department maintains a strong academic orientation, facilitating students and faculty engagement with fundamental environmental challenges and caters to the need of teaching of Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC) on Environmental Studies. The department has an experienced and dynamic faculty having relevant expertise in their domains. Various workshops and conferences on contemporary environmental issues are organized by the department. This ensures the participation of students for developing critical thinking for shaping strategies (scientific, social, economic, administrative, and legal) for environmental protection, conservation of biodiversity, environmental equity, and sustainable development.
